We go a step further from being carbon neutral by offsetting more carbon emissions than we produce. Our business carbon emissions are offset through EKOS, supporting projects in New Zealand and the Solomon Islands, while our manufacturing emissions are offset through the Pur Project in Peru. For every 1000 chocolate bars produced on cacao farms in Peru or Ecuador, we plant one timber tree.
We are a Climate Positive Business Operation with Ekos. We have measured and offset 120% (at least) of our operational carbon footprint for the last 4 years with certified carbon credits. These certified carbon credits are sourced from projects that work to grow and protect permanent restorative forests in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and in Peru and Ecuador using the Dynamic Agroforestry method.
All these projects help to deliver climate resilience, waterway protection, erosion control, biodiversity conservation and
community economic development. Currently we are specifically supporting the Babatana Rainforest Conservation Project in the Solomon Islands and the Kern Creek Forest Conservation Project in Maruia, New Zealand.
